About the McGowan Foundation

The McGowan Foundation was established in December 2025 by Mr. Erwin A. McGowan with a personal mission: to create opportunities for individuals and families who are working hard to build better lives but may not always have access to the resources, education, and support they need.

Raised by a single mother alongside several siblings, Mr. McGowan understood early the challenges families can face when resources are limited. Rather than allowing those circumstances to define his future, he built a successful life and spent more than 30 years serving Houston’s Denver Harbor and Fifth Ward communities.

That vision expanded through his partnership with Executive Director Jessica Solis whom he met in the 5th ward community. As a single mother raising two children, Jessica understands firsthand the sacrifice, responsibility, and determination required to create stability while continuing to pursue education, growth, and opportunity.

Not only does The McGowan Foundation provide financial education and social work support, but it also brings something equally powerful: lived experience. Both Mr. McGowan and Jessica have faced circumstances where the statistics were not always in their favor. Through perseverance, education, and opportunity, they broke cycles, overcame barriers, and created a different future for themselves and their families.

Their story reflects a core belief of The McGowan Foundation: statistics do not have to become destiny.

Through financial education, economic opportunity, educational support, and healthier living initiatives, the Foundation works to give individuals and families the tools to build stability, create opportunity, and move forward with confidence.

The McGowan Foundation exists to help people break barriers, build stronger futures, and create success that can be passed on to the next generation by providing programs that help individuals and families to empower themselves.
