The McGowan Foundation Fifth Ward Forward

After years of working in and giving back to Houston’s Fifth Ward, we believe in this community and the people who call it home. The McGowan Foundation’ Fifth Ward Forward is our way of showing that support through action.

By adopting a local school, business, or community organization, we are able to build real relationships, understand their needs, and provide support where it matters most. We believe giving back means more than showing up once—it means continuing to invest in the people and organizations that help keep the Fifth Ward strong.

We believe in the Fifth Ward, and we believe in supporting the community from within.

The McGowan Foundation is proud to continue investing in Houston’s Fifth Ward through our Adopt-a-Community Program.

Enrollment for our 2027 program will open at the end of May 2027, giving local schools, businesses, and community organizations the opportunity to be considered for adoption and support. The selected recipient will be announced in August 2027.

Our very first adopted recipient is Bruce Elementary School, and we are proud to begin this program by supporting a school right here in the Fifth Ward.

After years of working in and giving back to this community, we believe in the Fifth Ward and the people who make it strong. This program is our way of building lasting relationships, showing up consistently, and supporting the schools and organizations that are making a difference every day.
